SotM: 3/7/11

I've been digging this song lately and playing it several times a day. It's just catchy. It just feels like a personal anthem. You can find some sort of connection to this song in some way, I think. So, instead of keeping it to myself and the other million people who have heard it, I'll share it with you now!

It comes from a great band that is a side project of Jack White, of The White Stripes. While The White Stripes are sort of on a break of undetermined length, it's still considered a "side project." I've used one of their songs in the past as a Song of the Moment if you want to check it out! It's called Old Enough and it comes from their 2008 album Consolers of the Lonely. But this song was released in the US in 2006 off their first album and I just love it. Apparently, Rolling Stone Magazine ranked the song as the 2nd best song of the year...right behind Crazy by Gnarls Barkley. Well, sorry guys, but nobody remembers any song from 2006 EXCEPT Crazy. Maybe that's why I just heard the song for the first time a year or so ago. Oh well, better late than never, I always say! This video is goofy, with them racing soapbox cars and it has a guest appearance from Pee Wee Herman. There's other versions if you just want the audio, and no goofy intro...just YouTube it. So here for you now is The Raconteurs bringing out...

Song of the Moment 3/7/11
Steady, As She Goes by The Raconteurs
